Our Core Values

Our values are extremely important to us. They outline what we stand for, how we behave and what’s important to us.

As a student at Â鶹´«Ã½AV, it’s important that you uphold these values too, while you’re here, and hopefully beyond your time with us.

  • Try to make sure everyone feels included and listened to in all interactions with colleagues and learners
  • Listen and respond to questions without prejudice
  • Be aware of and responsible for how your attitude and emotions can impact on other people
  • Take time to actively listen and endeavour to understand other people’s opinions

…and what you shouldn’t

  • Jump to conclusions and make assumptions
  • Express non-constructive, negative or personal views of others and their opinions
  • Demonstrate favouritism
  • Encourage or take part in gossip

Always Learner First

What you should do…

  • Treat all learners with respect and as individuals
  • Consider the impact on learners of every decision you take
  • Involve learners in the decisions you make
  • Appreciate our learners’ perspective – have empathy with them

…and what you shouldn’t

  • Blame learners for things that are our responsibility
  • Prioritise operational needs before those of the learners
  • Take an approach that isn’t learner-focused
  • Fail to listen to, and act on, learner feedback

Act with Integrity

What you should do…

  • Be fair, honest and transparent
  • Be a role model
  • Deal with difficult conversations and situations
  • Be responsible and dependable

…and what you shouldn’t

  • Indulge in bias or favouritism
  • Turn a blind eye to inappropriate comments and behaviour from others
  • Fail to act in accordance with all our values, even when it’s difficult
  • Blame others for things that go wrong
