In a nutshell
This is an entry level programme designed for learners who may find a typical classroom environment challenging. It is an introductory course designed to encompass each learner's individual needs, providing them with academic study in a safe and nurturing environment before they progress onto Level 1 courses.

...You need an opportunity to improve your work and life skills whilst deciding on your future career path.
What will I be doing?
This course is ideal if you don't have any formal qualifications and you're looking for an entry level course.
It covers a range of practical subjects such as cookery, horticulture, health and leisure, ICT, and retail, to improve the work and life skills of every student.
Learners will be able to select a range of topics to work towards, depending on their learning needs. They'll work towards an extended certificate or award in BTEC Vocational Studies Entry 3, as well as Essential Skills in Application of Number and Communication.
Areas covered are:
- Literacy and numeracy skills
- Employability skills
- Projects around soft skills such as confidence building, relationships, attendance and inclusion.
What is expected of me?
There are no formal entry requirements, but you will need to show a willingness to fully engage in all sessions and activities.
What comes next?
Following completion of this course, you can progress onto Entry to Vocational Studies, training courses or supported employment.
Additional information
During this course, students will be encouraged to take part in a variety of community-based volunteering projects to help them develop a wide range of skills.
They'll also have a weekly tutorials and support is available to meet individual needs and help learners thrive while they're at college.
You're taught in small groups and support staff work closely with learners to encourage confidence, self-esteem and other valuable skills.
